When setting up your Google Business Profile, you are asked to choose a primary business category. Most people don't know that you can have up to ten business categories.
Google pre-defines categories, so you can't just type in your own, but it's important to use the categories that best describe your business. You probably don't want to use all ten categories: it fusion data would look cluttered. Instead, try to limit your categories to two or three.
For example, a pizza restaurant might choose "pizzeria" as its primary category, but choose "pizza delivery" as its secondary category, and "catering" as its tertiary category. This categorization will help you appear regardless of whether someone is searching for "pizza near me" or "pizza delivery near me."
Verify your location
Google Business Profile is built on local search. Local search engine optimization (or local SEO) only applies to a business if it is - you guessed it - local.
For this reason, you need to verify your address (or business ownership) through the Google Business Profile verification process.
You will most likely request that the letter be sent to a mailing address of your choosing. The mailing address cannot be a PO Box or someone else's mailbox. You must verify a legitimate address with a dedicated mailbox.
